Kardashian Konflict

Probably one of the oldest arguments to stand the test of time is not what came first was it the chicken or the egg but the issue of sibling rivalry. I sure know what this is like! It feels like no matter what they will always be the golden child they could do no wrong. But as we get older and we begin to understand life better sometimes our perceptions of this and our relationship with our sibling changes as a result.

I began thinking about this after reading a magazine article about one of the most televised families in the world, the Simpsons….only kidding I’m talking about the Kardashians. You may be thinking sure there would have to be enough sibling rivalry there to start a war! Well this article wasn’t so much about the family as a whole as it was about Khloe Kardashian-Odom’s baby news “at last”.

Just in case due to some bizarre reason you haven’t heard Kim Kardashian is pregnant. So the article focused on Khloe’s plight to get pregnant and her desire to start her own family. I’m not by any means attempting to attack the article. I am merely trying to say I actually feel sorry for the woman.

It must be hard enough to be competing against your sibling in ratings and earnings but then to have to compete with them in something so personal must be difficult. Think about the times when you wanted something sooo badly but your sibling got it before you, no matter how much you love them you get a little crushed and can’t help but think why not me?

Sometimes it’s as if society puts women under so much pressure to fulfil certain gender roles and if you can not or you don’t fulfil them at the time when society believes you should you are hounded for it. Sometimes we don’t always get what we want or no matter how badly we want something it doesn’t happen or it happens at a time different from everyone else, that’s just life. We are constantly told everyone is unique but then when someone does things there own way or things happen for them at different stages of life than what we believe is the norm society we put them down for it.

I wonder sometimes if this is due to actual concern or the concern of breaking free from the traditional mould of life?
